In 2024, they claimed the title of BEST of the Chicago Ribfest, earned Best BBQ Sauce in Elkhorn, WI, 2nd Place in California and took home many other awards, solidifying their reputation as one of the most decorated teams in the industry.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT US!
They say barbecue started in the South—well, you can’t get much further south than Australia! So in 1988, Aussom Aussie hit the BBQ trail, competing in the USA and Canada to prove that Aussie-style barbecue could go head-to-head with the best in the world.
It all started thanks to a legend named Billy Bones, who encouraged us to compete regularly. Along with his wife, Hot Sauce Sharon, and their family, they took us under their wing and showed us the ropes. Billy Bones, one of the grandfathers of American BBQ from Red Keg, Michigan—“halfway between Climax and Paradise,” as he says—is a true character.
So why BBQ? ... Because there’s no one right way to do it. There’s not even ONE way to spell it—BBQ, Barbecue, Bar-B-Que, Barbie—so it’s no wonder the flavors and styles are just as varied. Different regions create their own barbecue identity, so why not bring a little Aussie flavor to the mix?
What Paul Hogan started in the ’70s with “throw another shrimp on the barbie,” Paul “Aussom Aussie” Mackay has carried forward with “throw another rib on the barbie!” With over 400 awards for Best BBQ across Australia, Canada, and the USA, Aussom Aussie continues to tour the continent, hitting 10–12 national BBQ cook-offs and ribfests each year—sharing our award-winning sauces, seasonings, and rubs that you can bring home to your own backyard cook.
